TO THE KING OF ENGLAND.
Wednesday, Nov, 11, 1778.
The rain pours down, the city looks forlorn,
And gloomy subject suit the howling morn.
Close by my fire, with doors and windows fast.
And sweetly sheltered from the driving blast,
To gayer thoughts, I bid a day's adieu,
To spend a scene of solitude with you.
. . . [63 lines] [signed] Common Sense. Philadelphia.
